Bob Monkhouse

Bob Monkhouse (1928–2003) was an English comedian, actor, television presenter, and writer whose quick wit made him a familiar figure in postwar British entertainment. Born in London, he began performing and writing jokes while still young, later working in radio, film, and television. Monkhouse became especially associated with game shows, hosting popular programmes including *The Golden Shot* and *Family Fortunes*, and he was also a regular on variety and comedy panel formats. Alongside presenting, he wrote extensively for other performers and appeared as an actor in stage and screen roles. He remained active in broadcasting for decades, earning a reputation for professionalism and sharp one-liners.
