Elayne Boosler

Elayne Boosler was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1952. Boosler worked as a waitress, singer/dancer in touring companies, and doorman at New York’s The Improvisation comedy club before she started doing stand-up comedy. When Showtime aired her self-produced stand-up special “Party of One” in 1986, she became the first female to get her own one-hour cable comedy special. Boosler then started touring regularly with a well-received two-hour show, and went on to do several more cable specials, including “Broadway Baby,” the award-winning “Top Tomata,” and the 90-minute New Year’s Eve special “Elayne Boosler’s Midnight Hour.” Boosler has also guest-starred as an actress on numerous TV shows, including Night Court, The Cosby Show, Living Single, and others. Additionally, she is an animal rescue advocate.
