Ingvar Kamprad

Ingvar Kamprad (1926–2018) was a Swedish entrepreneur best known as the founder of IKEA, the global home-furnishings retailer. Born in Småland, Sweden, he showed early business initiative and, in 1943, established IKEA, a company whose name derives from his initials and the family farm and village where he grew up. Under his leadership, IKEA developed a distinctive approach to affordable design, flat-pack furniture, and large-scale self-service retailing, expanding from Sweden to international markets. Kamprad became one of the world’s most influential figures in modern retail and consumer design through IKEA’s enduring brand and business model.
