Jack Ma

Jack Ma was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in English from Nangzhou Normal University, Ma became a lecturer in International Trade and English at Hangzhou Dianzi University. He also began building websites with friends in the U.S. In 1995, Ma founded China’s first online company, China Yellowpages, and in 1999, he founded the e-commerce site Alibaba.com, currently one of the top sites in the world. Ma is currently the chairman of Alibaba.com and one of the world’s billionaires. Ma’s many accomplishments include being the first entrepreneur from mainland China to appear on the cover of Forbes Magazine and being the first world business leader to predict the late 2000s economic downturn.
