Jack Nickell

Joe Nickell (1944–2025) was an American investigator, author, and prominent skeptic known for examining claims of the paranormal, pseudoscience, and historical mysteries. Long associated with the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI), he served as a senior research fellow and wrote extensively for *Skeptical Inquirer* magazine. Nickell investigated topics ranging from alleged hauntings and UFO reports to cryptids and questionable artifacts, emphasizing on-site inquiry, documentary research, and scientific reasoning. He authored numerous books, including *Inquest on the Shroud of Turin*, and became a widely recognized public voice for evidence-based skepticism through lectures, interviews, and media appearances.
