Robert Bloch

Robert Bloch (1917–1994) was an American writer known for horror, fantasy, and science fiction. Born in Chicago, he began publishing professionally as a teenager and became associated with the circle around H. P. Lovecraft. Bloch wrote extensively for pulp magazines, producing stories that mixed macabre humor with psychological suspense. His best-known novel, *Psycho* (1959), was adapted into Alfred Hitchcock’s landmark 1960 film. Bloch also worked widely in television and film, including scripts for series such as *The Twilight Zone* and *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*. Over a long career he published numerous novels, story collections, and essays.
