Steve Martin

Steve Martin (born 1945) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and musician. Rising to prominence as a stand-up performer, he became known for his distinctive style and later expanded into film and television. Martin has also built a substantial literary career, writing essays, plays, and fiction. His memoir *Born Standing Up* recounts his early life and years in stand-up comedy. He is also the author of the novella *Shopgirl*, among other novels. In addition to his work on stage and screen, Martin is an accomplished banjo player and has released music as a performer and collaborator.
