There’s no silver bullet. You cannot helicopter people out of poverty.

This quote by development economist Esther Duflo means that there is no magic solution to poverty; it is a multifaceted problem cannot be solved by any “quick fix” or “miracle cure.”  The quote is from Duflo’s 2010 TED Talk about determining which efforts help alleviate poverty. After this quote, Duflo goes on to say, on a more optimistic note, that while we cannot completely eradicate poverty just yet, we can get started with measures we know are effective.
