A. Whitney Brown
Alan Whitney Brown was born in Charlotte, Michigan in 1952. He started his career as a street juggler, and after entering the 1975 San Francisco Comedy Competition, he became a stand-up comedian. In 1985, Lorne Michaels hired Brown to join the writers of Saturday Night Live. Besides writing for the show, Brown also appeared opposite Dennis Miller in a memorable Weekend Update segment called “The Big Picture.” In 1988, Brown won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program for his work on SNL. From 1996 to 1998, Brown was one of the original correspondents on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.
