Abigail Washburn

Abigail Washburn (born 1977) is an American clawhammer banjo player and singer-songwriter. She is known for blending American folk and bluegrass traditions with Chinese musical influences. Washburn has built a career as a performer and recording artist, bringing together banjo-driven roots music and elements drawn from her engagement with Chinese culture. Her work is often noted for its cross-cultural approach and for expanding the banjo’s role beyond conventional genre boundaries. She is married to banjoist Béla Fleck, with whom she has also collaborated musically.
