Abraham Maslow

Abraham Maslow, the son of Jewish immigrants from Russia, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended City College of New York, Cornell University, and University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received his master’s degree in psychology. Maslow continued his research at Columbia University, publishing groundbreaking studies on the subject of self-actualization in the 1940s. In the 1950s and ‘60s, Maslow was a professor at Brandeis University. He was elected president of the American Psychological Association in 1963. In 1970, Maslow. died of a heart attack, at age 62. Maslow is best known for his theory of psychological health, the “hierarchy of needs.”
