Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1966. Sandler attended New York University, graduating from the school’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1988. Sandler appeared on several TV shows in the late ‘80s, including The Cosby Show and MTV’s Remote Control, and also performed in comedy clubs. Comedian Dennis Miller caught one of Sandler’s stand-up performances and recommended him to Saturday Night Live, which hired Sandler as writer in 1990 and as a player the next year. Sandler’s SNL fame launched his career as a comedic actor, leading to lead roles in movies like Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and The Waterboy. In the 2000s, Sandler transitioned to some more serious roles in films such as Punch-Drunk Love.
