Adolphe Monod

Adolphe Monod (1802–1856) was a French Protestant pastor and theologian in the Reformed tradition, widely regarded for his preaching and spiritual counsel. He served as a minister in France and became known for sermons that combined careful biblical exposition with an urgent call to personal faith and repentance. Monod also taught theology and influenced generations of French-speaking Protestants through his published sermons and devotional writings, which circulated beyond his immediate congregations. His work reflects the nineteenth-century revival of evangelical piety within French Protestantism, emphasizing grace, conversion, and practical holiness. He died in 1856, leaving a lasting homiletic legacy.
