Aesop

Aesop was an Ancient Greek writer/storyteller credited with writing the fables collectively known as Aesop’s Fables. Not much is known about Aesop’s life, and it has even been questioned whether he ever existed. Early Greek sources indicate Aesop was born around 620 BC on the Black Sea Coast. Greek sources say Aesop was a slave that was eventually freed, and met his end after being falsely accused of theft and sentenced to death in the city of Delphi. However, other sources claim Aesop was of African origin. Aesop’s Fables include stories characterized by animals and inanimate objects that have human characteristics; most of the tales provide a positive moral lesson.
