Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie was born into an upper middle-class family in England. She did not receive a formal education until age 11, when she was sent to Miss Guyer’s Girls School in Torquay and then to finishing school in Paris. Returning to England, Christie started writing short stories and eventually wrote her first novel, Snow Upon the Desert. Christie had more success as an author when she started writing and publishing detective novels, a pursuit she would continue for the rest of her life until dying of natural causes at age 85. Christie’s novels have sold more than 4 billion copies, making her the best-selling novelist of all time.
