Alfred Matthew “Weird Al” Yankovic (born October 23, 1959) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and comedian best known for parody songs that humorously reinterpret popular hits. Raised in California, he learned the accordion as a child and gained early attention with comedic recordings while studying architecture at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. His self-titled debut album appeared in 1983, and he later scored major successes with songs such as “Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” and “Amish Paradise.” Yankovic is also known for original comedy songs, elaborate music videos, and live performances, and he has won multiple Grammy Awards.
