Alan Coren

Alan Coren (1938–2007) was an English humorist, journalist, and broadcaster, best known for his long association with *Punch* magazine. He joined *Punch* in the 1960s, became a prominent contributor, and later served as editor, helping to shape its late‑20th‑century comic voice. Coren also wrote widely beyond the magazine, publishing humorous books and essays that drew on everyday British life, social observation, and wordplay. A familiar presence on radio and television, he appeared on panel and discussion programmes where his quick wit and distinctive delivery made him a popular guest. He was the father of journalist Victoria Coren Mitchell.
