Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist who revolutionized the world of physics with his general and special theories of relativity. Pivotal to these theories was Einstein’s most famous equation, the mass-energy equivalence formula (E = mc2). Born in Germany, Einstein settled in the U.S. after Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, continuing the impressive academic and scientific career he had established in Europe. Throughout his long career, Einstein published hundreds of books and articles. Einstein’s warnings to President Franklin D. Roosevelt that Germany might be creating a nuclear weapon were instrumental to the United States’ development of the atomic bomb. He died at age 76 of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.
