Alexander Dumas

Alexandre Dumas père (1802–1870) was a French novelist and playwright whose adventure fiction became internationally popular. Born in Villers-Cotterêts, he moved to Paris and found early success in the theatre with historical dramas, including *Henri III et sa cour* (1829). He later turned to serialized novels, producing fast-paced historical romances often written in collaboration with assistants. Among his most famous works are *The Three Musketeers* (1844), *Twenty Years After* (1845), *The Vicomte of Bragelonne* (1847–1850), and *The Count of Monte Cristo* (1844–1846). Dumas died in 1870 and was later reinterred in the Panthéon in 2002.
