Alfred Percival Graves

Alfred Percival Graves (1846–1931) was an Irish poet, songwriter, and folklorist. Born in Dublin, he became closely associated with the Irish literary revival and worked to popularize Irish song and tradition through his writing and collecting. He published poetry and song lyrics, and his work often drew on Irish themes and folk material. Graves also served as an inspector of schools, a career that ran alongside his literary activity. He was the father of the poet and novelist Robert Graves. Alfred Percival Graves died in 1931, leaving a reputation as a significant contributor to Irish cultural and literary life.
