Alison Gopnik

Alison Gopnik is an American-Canadian developmental psychologist and cognitive scientist and a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on how children learn and think, including the development of causal reasoning, exploration, and early understanding of the world. Gopnik is widely known for bringing findings from developmental science to general audiences through her writing and public commentary. She is the author of popular books including *The Philosophical Baby* and *The Gardener and the Carpenter*, which examine what childhood reveals about human cognition and how adults can best support children’s growth.
