Allan Savory

Allan Savory (born 1935) is a Zimbabwean ecologist and livestock farmer known for developing Holistic Management, a decision-making framework for managing land and livestock. Raised in what was then Southern Rhodesia, he worked as a game ranger and later founded the Africa Centre for Holistic Management. Savory argues that properly managed grazing can help restore grasslands and address desertification, and he has promoted “holistic planned grazing” internationally through lectures and publications. His ideas have been influential in some regenerative agriculture circles and have also attracted scientific criticism and debate over evidence and outcomes.
