Amanda Palmer

Amanda Palmer (born April 30, 1976) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and writer. She co-founded the Boston-based duo The Dresden Dolls with drummer Brian Viglione, helping define a cabaret-influenced, punk-spirited sound. Palmer later released solo music and collaborated widely, including work with author Neil Gaiman. She is known for direct, confessional songwriting, theatrical live performances, and an outspoken approach to artist–audience relationships. Her writing includes the memoir *The Art of Asking*, which expands on themes of creativity, community, and patronage. Palmer has also toured internationally and maintained an active presence through online platforms and fan-supported projects.
