Amory Lovins

Amory B. Lovins (born 1947) is an American physicist and environmental scientist known for his work on energy policy and efficiency. He co-founded the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) in 1982 and has served as its chairman and chief scientist. Lovins has advised governments and businesses on strategies to reduce energy use and costs, emphasizing “negawatts” (energy saved through efficiency) and the potential for renewable energy to compete with fossil fuels. He is the author of influential books and reports on energy and climate solutions, including *Soft Energy Paths* (1977), and has been recognized for shaping modern thinking on sustainable energy systems.
