Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson (1767–1845) was the seventh President of the United States, serving from 1829 to 1837. Born in the Waxhaws region on the Carolina frontier, he became a lawyer in Tennessee and rose to national prominence as a military commander, notably after the Battle of New Orleans in 1815. Jackson later served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate and was appointed territorial governor of Florida. His presidency reshaped American politics through the expansion of popular participation and the growth of the Democratic Party. Jackson is also remembered for forceful speeches, messages, and political writings that articulated his views on executive power and national policy.
