Anne Rice

Anne Rice (1941–2021) was an American novelist known for gothic fiction and supernatural themes. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, she later lived in California. Rice achieved international fame with *Interview with the Vampire* (1976), the first major installment of *The Vampire Chronicles*, a series that helped reshape modern vampire literature through its morally complex, introspective characters. Her work often blends horror with romance, religion, and philosophical inquiry, drawing on the atmosphere and history of New Orleans. Rice also wrote historical and erotic fiction, at times using the pen name A. N. Roquelaure. Her novels have been widely adapted and remain influential in popular culture.
