Anthony Trollope

Anthony Trollope (1815–1882) was an English novelist and a major writer of the Victorian era. Born in London, he worked for the Post Office from 1834 and later served in Ireland, where he began writing fiction. Trollope became widely known for two linked sequences of novels: the Barsetshire Chronicles, beginning with *The Warden* (1855), and the Palliser (or Parliamentary) novels, beginning with *Can You Forgive Her?* (1864). His work is noted for detailed social observation, satire, and realistic portrayals of politics, religion, and provincial life. He also wrote travel books, short stories, and an autobiography published posthumously.
