Antoine Boulay de la Meurthe
Antoine Boulay de la Meurthe (1761–1840) was a French jurist and politician active during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras. Trained in law, he entered national politics under the Directory and served in the Council of Five Hundred, where he took part in legislative debates at a time of rapid constitutional change. He later held high office under Napoleon, including service as a councillor of state, contributing to the legal and administrative work of the Consulate and Empire. After the Restoration he was made a peer of France. Boulay is remembered chiefly for his political and legal roles rather than for literary authorship.
