Antony Gormley

Antony Gormley (born 1950) is a British sculptor and contemporary artist best known for large-scale public works that explore the human body and its relationship to space. He gained wide recognition for *Angel of the North* (1998), a monumental steel figure installed near Gateshead in northeast England. Gormley frequently uses his own body as a template, creating cast-iron and other sculptural forms that address presence, perception, and the built environment.
