Art Buchwald

Art Buchwald (1925–2007) was an American humorist and syndicated newspaper columnist celebrated for sharp political satire. Born in New York City, he began his journalism career in Paris, writing a widely read column for the *New York Herald Tribune* that skewered politics and culture with a distinctive, deadpan voice. Buchwald later became a longtime columnist for *The Washington Post*, where his work reached a national audience and helped define modern newspaper humor. He also wrote books and appeared frequently on television, extending his influence beyond print. In his later years he wrote candidly about illness and aging, maintaining his wit to the end.
