Arthur C. Clarke

Arthur C. Clarke (1917–2008) was a British science fiction writer, futurist, and inventor whose work helped shape modern space-age imagination. He is best known for *2001: A Space Odyssey*, developed in parallel with Stanley Kubrick’s film and published as a novel in 1968. Clarke’s fiction often combined scientific rigor with a sense of cosmic wonder, exploring themes of exploration, technology, and humanity’s future. Beyond literature, he co-formulated the concept of geostationary communications satellites, an idea that anticipated today’s global telecommunications networks. He spent much of his later life in Sri Lanka and remained an influential public voice on science and space.
