Arthur Daley

Arthur Daley is a fictional London “wide boy” and small-time con man from the British television series *Minder*. The character is best known as a fast-talking, opportunistic dealer who is always chasing the next scheme, often relying on charm and questionable ethics to get by. Arthur Daley was created by writer Leon Griffiths for *Minder*, which first aired on ITV in 1979. He was portrayed most famously by actor George Cole, whose performance helped make Daley one of the show’s defining figures. Although sometimes cited like an author in quotation collections, Arthur Daley is not a real person or writer.
