Arthur Somers Roche

Arthur Somers Roche (1879–1938) was an American novelist and short-story writer. He wrote popular fiction for magazines and produced numerous novels and story collections. Roche is associated with the long-running detective character Nick Carter, contributing to that franchise in the early 20th century. His 1927 novel *The Claw* was adapted for film the same year. Roche’s work typically blended crime, mystery, and adventure elements aimed at a mass readership. He continued publishing steadily through the 1920s and 1930s, building a reputation as a prolific professional writer in the American popular-literature marketplace.
