Beatrice Stella Tanner (1865–1940), known professionally as Mrs. Patrick Campbell, was an English stage actress celebrated for her work in late Victorian and Edwardian theatre. Born in Kensington, London, she trained at the Guildhall School of Music and made her stage debut in 1888. She married Patrick Campbell in 1884 and adopted her enduring stage name. Campbell became renowned for her portrayals of strong, complex heroines, notably Paula Tanqueray in Arthur Wing Pinero’s *The Second Mrs Tanqueray* (1893). She also had a significant artistic association with George Bernard Shaw, creating the role of Eliza Doolittle in *Pygmalion* (1914).
