Benny Hill

Alfred Hawthorne “Benny” Hill (1924–1992) was an English comedian, actor, and writer best known for *The Benny Hill Show*. Born in Southampton, he began performing after World War II and developed a style mixing slapstick, wordplay, and musical comedy. His television work made him a major British entertainment figure, and *The Benny Hill Show* became internationally syndicated, reaching large audiences beyond the UK. Hill also wrote much of his material and appeared in films as well as on stage and radio. He died in 1992, leaving a legacy closely associated with fast-paced sketch comedy and broad physical humor.
