Bill Dana

Bill Dana (1924–2012) was an American comedian, writer, and producer best known for creating and portraying the character José Jiménez, a fictional Latino astronaut who became a popular fixture on American television in the early 1960s. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, Dana built a career in comedy and entertainment that spanned performance and behind-the-scenes work. In addition to his on-screen success, he wrote for television and film, contributing to a range of comedy projects. Dana later moved away from performing José Jiménez, a role that drew criticism for ethnic stereotyping, and continued working as a writer and producer.
