Bill Watterson

Bill Watterson (born 1958) is an American cartoonist best known as the creator of the comic strip *Calvin and Hobbes*. The strip was syndicated from 1985 to 1995 and follows the adventures of Calvin, a mischievous boy, and Hobbes, his tiger companion. Watterson’s work is noted for expressive drawing, imaginative storytelling, and reflections on childhood, culture, and philosophy. He resisted extensive merchandising and largely avoided publicity, choosing to focus on the integrity of the strip. After ending *Calvin and Hobbes*, he remained mostly out of the public eye, publishing only occasional artwork and commentary.
