Billy Connolly

Sir William “Billy” Connolly (born 24 November 1942) is a Scottish comedian, actor, musician, and author. Raised in Glasgow, he began his career as a folk musician, playing the banjo, before turning to stand-up comedy in the late 1960s. Connolly became one of Britain’s best-known comedians, celebrated for his storytelling style and distinctive Glaswegian voice. He has also worked extensively in film and television, including roles in *Mrs Brown* and *The Boondock Saints*. Knighted in 2017 for services to entertainment and charity, he has written memoirs such as *Windswept and Interesting* (2021).
