Bishop Mandell Creighton

Mandell Creighton (1843–1901) was an English historian and Anglican bishop, often known as Bishop Mandell Creighton. He served as Bishop of Peterborough and later as Bishop of London. Creighton was also an academic and writer, recognized for his historical scholarship. His work combined careful study of the past with a public role in the Church of England, and he became a prominent figure in late Victorian religious and intellectual life. Remembered both for his historical interests and his episcopal leadership, Creighton’s name is frequently associated with the intersection of scholarship, public service, and Anglican churchmanship in nineteenth-century England.
