Bob Hope
Bob Hope was born in Eltham, London in 1903. From childhood, Hope earned money by entertaining people with song, dance, and comedy. In his twenties, Hope formed an act called the Dancemedians, with whom he performed in vaudeville shows. Hope started performing on the radio in 1934 and began doing TV specials in 1954. Additionally, Hope starred in a number films from the 1930s to 1970s, and was also noted for his numerous United Service Organizations (USO) shows to entertain U.S. military personnel. Hope was known for his comedic timing, one-liners, and self-deprecating jokes. He died in 2003 at age 100.
