Bob Steele
Bob Steele was born Robert Adrian Bradbury into a vaudeville family in Portland, Oregon in 1907. The family finally settled in Hollywood, California in the late 1910s after years of touring. In 1920, Bob and his twin brother Bill were hired for a series of adventure movies called The Adventures of Bob and Bill. Bob’s career took off enormously after he was hired to star in a series of Western movies in 1927; it was at this time that he changed his name to Bob Steele. Steele starred in many Westerns in the late 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, and in the 1950s and ‘60s, he appeared in science fiction films and television shows. He died of emphysema in 1988.
