Bobby McFerrin (born March 11, 1950) is an American vocalist, composer, and conductor known for his innovative, improvisational approach to the voice. He gained worldwide fame with “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” a 1988 a cappella single that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. McFerrin’s work spans jazz, pop, and classical music, and he is noted for using vocal percussion and audience participation in performance.
