Bobby Pickett

Bobby “Boris” Pickett (1938–2007) was an American singer and comedian best known for the 1962 novelty hit “Monster Mash.” Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, he developed a comic horror persona inspired by classic movie monsters and performed in a Boris Karloff–style voice. “Monster Mash,” credited to Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers, became a pop-culture staple and returned to the charts in later years. Pickett continued recording and performing monster-themed comedy music, including follow-ups such as “Monster’s Holiday,” and remained associated with Halloween radio playlists for decades. He died in 2007.
