Robert Francis “Bobcat” Goldthwait (born May 26, 1962) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and film director. He became widely known in the 1980s for a stand-up persona marked by an abrasive, high-pitched voice and anarchic energy. Goldthwait also acted in film and television, including the Police Academy series, and has appeared in numerous comedy and talk-show contexts. As a director, he made his feature debut with the dark comedy *Shakes the Clown* (1991) and later wrote and directed *God Bless America* (2011), a satirical film about media culture and public rage.
