Bryan Stevenson

Bryan Stevenson is an American lawyer, social justice advocate, and author. He founded the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery, Alabama, that provides legal representation to people who have been wrongly convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in jails and prisons. Stevenson has argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and has worked extensively on issues including the death penalty and juvenile sentencing. He is the author of *Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption*, which recounts his early legal work and examines the U.S. criminal justice system. Stevenson is also a professor at New York University School of Law.
