Budd Schulberg
Budd Schulberg (1914–2009) was an American novelist and screenwriter. Born in New York City, he was the son of film producer B. P. Schulberg. He studied at Dartmouth College and later at the University of Southern California. Schulberg is known for the novel *The Disenchanted* (1950), drawing on his experience working with F. Scott Fitzgerald in Hollywood. He co-wrote the screenplay for *On the Waterfront* (1954), which won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy and worked in film units. He later wrote fiction, nonfiction, and screenplays.
