Carol Sobieski and Thomas Meehan

Carol Sobieski (1945–1990) was an American screenwriter and television writer best known for her work on the acclaimed TV miniseries adaptation of James Clavell’s *Shōgun*. Active in film and television, she earned industry recognition for her writing before her death in 1990. Thomas Meehan (1929–2017) was an American playwright, librettist, and screenwriter whose career bridged Broadway and Hollywood. He wrote the book for the musical *Annie* and later contributed to major stage hits including *The Producers* and *Hairspray*. Meehan’s work is noted for its comic craft and durable popular appeal.
