Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher (1956–2016) was an American actress, writer, and humorist. She became internationally known for playing Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars films, beginning with *Star Wars* (1977), and later reprised the role in subsequent installments. Fisher also built a major literary career, publishing the semi-autobiographical novel *Postcards from the Edge* (1987) and the memoir *Wishful Drinking* (2008), among other books. In addition to acting and writing, she worked as a screenwriter and script doctor on numerous Hollywood projects. Fisher was the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds.
