Charles "Casey" Stengel
Charles Dillon “Casey” Stengel (1890–1975) was an American professional baseball player and manager. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he played in Major League Baseball as an outfielder from 1912 to 1925, including stints with the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers. Stengel later became one of the sport’s most celebrated managers. He led the New York Yankees from 1949 to 1960, winning seven World Series titles and ten American League pennants. In 1962 he became the first manager of the expansion New York Mets, guiding the club through its early seasons. Stengel was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966.
