Charles Krauthammer
Charles Krauthammer (1950–2018) was an American physician, writer, and political commentator. Born in New York City and raised in Montreal, he earned degrees from McGill University and Harvard Medical School. After a spinal cord injury left him paralyzed while in medical training, he turned to writing and became a prominent voice in American public life. Krauthammer wrote for *The New Republic* and later became a nationally syndicated columnist, known for conservative commentary on politics and foreign policy. He received the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. He also appeared frequently on television news programs and published essay collections, including *Things That Matter* (2013).
